Flipkart product image requirements: what sellers need to know in 2025
Flipkart has its own image standards that differ from Amazon in a few important ways. Sellers who just reuse Amazon images often get catalogue quality warnings. Here is what Flipkart actually requires.
Most Indian ecommerce sellers manage both Amazon and Flipkart simultaneously. The natural tendency is to upload the same images to both. For some categories this works. For others, Flipkart will flag your listing for poor catalogue quality and reduce its visibility in search.
Flipkart image specifications
- Recommended size: 1000ร1000 pixels minimum, ideally 1500ร1500 or higher
- Aspect ratio: 1:1 (square) for most categories
- Format: JPEG or PNG
- File size: under 5 MB per image
- Maximum 8 images per listing
Where Flipkart differs from Amazon
Flipkart does not enforce a pure white background as strictly as Amazon does for the main image. Light grey and off-white backgrounds are generally accepted. This is good news if you have Amazon-compliant images โ they will pass Flipkart without changes.
What Flipkart is stricter about: catalogue completeness. The platform scores listings on a quality index that includes number of images, presence of lifestyle images, and whether variant images are distinct. A listing with only one image scores low and gets pushed down in search results even if the image itself is technically compliant.
Catalogue Quality Score โ what it affects
Flipkart's catalogue quality score directly affects search ranking. A score below 70% pushes your listing lower in category and search results. Images account for a significant portion of this score. Specifically: having fewer than three images, missing a lifestyle image, or having a blurry main image all reduce your score.
Check your score in the Seller Hub under Listings โ Catalogue Quality. Any listing with a yellow or red quality indicator is worth fixing.
Category-specific requirements
Fashion: Flipkart requires a model image for apparel. Flat lays are permitted as additional images but the first image should ideally be worn. Footwear should show the side profile of the shoe as the main image.
Electronics: Flipkart wants an image of the actual product โ not a render or box image โ as the main shot. For accessories, the front face of the actual product.
Home and kitchen: multiple angles are expected. Flipkart's search algorithm actively rewards listings that show more than two angles for large household items.
Image strategy for sellers on both platforms
Create a base set of images: one clean white background hero (satisfies Amazon), one lifestyle or in-use shot, one infographic. On Flipkart, you can additionally use your infographic as the primary image in some categories where Amazon would not allow it.
